PROPAGATION OF A SINGLE LONG WAVE IN THE BAYS WITH U-SHAPED CROSS-SECTION FORM

In the framework of the nonlinear long wave theory, the evolution of a single wave propagating in the bays with U-shaped cross-section is studied. A good conformity was found between the numerical and analytical estimates of the wave height variation along the bay axis. It is shown that the influence of the bay cross-section shape on the wave field is manifested in the sea level rise with the approach to the bay periphery. Estimates of vertical run-up and drainage depth of the shore at the bay top with different cross-sectional shape were obtained. It is found that in bays with a triangular cross-sectional shape there are the greatest run-up height and the greatest drainage depths from the shore. The distance traveled by the wave from the bay entrance to the point of wave breaking is the largest for the bay with crosssectional shape is approximate to rectangular.

EVALUATION OF THE DENSITY FIELD VERTICAL STRUCTURE AND THE CHARACTERISTICS OF INTERNAL WAVES RELATION WITH LARGE-SCALE ATMOSPHERIC CIRCULATION IN THE PERUVIAN AND BENGUELA UPWELLING AREAS

The coordination of the annual variability of buoyancy frequency and characteristics of the lowest mode of internal waves with annual cycle of indexes of large-scale atmospheric circulation had been considered in the water areas of Peruvian and Benguela upwelling on the basis World Ocean Atlas – 2013. The presence of a stable correlation had been shown of the maximum of buoyancy frequency, maximum of the amplitude of the vertical component of the velocity of the first mode of free internal waves, its own period and the index of the North Atlantic Oscillation in the zones of the Peruvian and Benguela upwelling. The presence of a stable correlation had been shown between the maximum of the buoyancy frequency, the maximum of amplitude of the vertical component of the velocity of the first mode of free internal waves, its own period and the Southern Oscillation Index at the periphery of the Peruvian and Benguela upwelling.

THE CHARACTERISTICS STUDY TO THE COLLAPSE OF SALT WATER FINITE VOLUME SURROUNDED BY FRESH WATER DEPENDING ON ITS INITIAL FORM ON THE BOTTOM SLOPE

We studied the process of the collapse of density heterogeneity (or «stain») on the slope in dependence of its initial shape. We analyzed the parameters of numerical calculations of currents. And they showed marked differences in the dynamics of stratified fluid in the initial phase of fast collapse «stain» and in the  following stage – inertial. The dominant factor is the presence forces which slither along the slope on the viscous stage of collapse «stain».

SURFACE WAVES GROUP STRUCTURE MODELLING

Influence of the group structure of surface waves on the distribution of elevations of the sea surface is analyzed. The analysis is based on analytical models that have the traditional form, which is the product of the carrier wave and its envelope. Exponential and trigonometric functions are used to construct the model. The model allows to specify such characteristics of the wave field as a groups factor, the number of waves in the group, the asymmetry of the distribution of surface elevations and also to change the level of the harmonics of the  carrier wave. It is shown that the presence of group structure leads to an increase of the skewness. Change groups factor has no effect on the level of harmonics of the carrier wave.

THE RECONSTRUCTION OF EXTREME FLOOD EVENT IN THE SOUTH COAST REGION OF CRIMEA

The paper presents the simulation results for floods caused by extreme showers on the rivers and reservoirs of the cities of Sevastopol, Yalta, Alushta and Sudak. Conclusion is made about the applicability of implemented models as a basis for the development of predictive systems for catastrophic floods in mountainous areas with complex landforms.

MODELING OF FLUID SEAPAGE IN WELL AT GREAT DEPTHS ACCOUNTING THE ANISOTROPY OF RESERVOIR STRENGTH PROPERTIES

The problem of fluid filtration into a producing well in a reservoir with the filtration properties which can depend substantially on the stress-strain stateis considered. A feature of this study is the account of two things: the anisotropy of the strength properties of reservoir rocks and the impact of fluid pressure on the redistribution of stresses in the formation. The problem was solved for two variants of the design of the bottomhole: an open hole and in the presence of two diametrically opposite vertical slots in it. The first variant, corresponding to a fairly simple geometry, allows one to obtain solution suitable for comparison with analytical one.

REGISTRATION OF DEEP PROCESSES DISPLAY IN THE NEARSURFACE LAYERS OF SEA WATER AND ATMOSPHERE

The methods of registration of light scattering in the atmosphere and sea brightness over the areas of hydrodynamic perturbations in the thickness of the marine environment in terms of controlled perturbations and in situ. Controlled hydrodynamic perturbations (GDV) was created in the surface layer of the sea with the help of the submerged jet from the pumps. In natural conditions disturbances occurred in the lagging track of the research vessel. Changes in the elastic light scattering in the near-water aerosol were recorded by the special layout of the laser lidar devices. Marked altitudinal stratification of aerosol produced under the action of GDV, as well as temporal dynamics of processes in the surface layer. Changes the brightness of the sea under the influence of GDV was measured in the relative layout of the photometer at two wavelengths. The relationship of the influence of GDV on near-surface water layers and the atmosphere.

SIMULATION OF STREET CANYONS AIR FLOW USING THE OPENFOAM PACKAGE

It is showed the results of two-dimensional air flow calculations in street canyons. The studies were conducted using the package OpenFoam supported by the program «University Cluster» (http://www.unicluster.ru) and the technological platform of the «University Cluster» (https://unihub.ru). In order to determine which model is advisable to use in further calculations, the results are compared with experimental data of different authors. It is shown that two-vortex structure arise and streets ventilation significantly deteriorated if the house on the windward side of the street below.

ABOUT ONE DISREGARDED MECHANISM OF THE ATMOSPHERIC CO2 IMMOBILIZATION BY TERRESTRIAL ECOSYSTEMS

Conditions of the atmospheric CO2 immobilization at pedogenic weathering are considered. It is specified that the primary factors contributing this process are high CO2 concentration in soil air, which exceeds its content in the atmosphere in hundreds and thousand times, and soil humidity. Outlined the fact that this mechanism of the atmospheric CO2 immobilization occurs also in climax ecosystems where production and destruction of organic matter are equal in value and possibility of carbon accumulation in biomass is not available. The calculated amount of the atmospheric CO2 immobilization due to weathering processes equals 1190 millions of tons per year.

VARIABILITY OF ATMOSPHERIC PRESSURE DISTRIBUTION ON THE EARTH SURFACE AND LUNAR-SOLAR TIDES

The statistical relations of the variability in the distribution of atmospheric pressure daily average values at the earth’s surface level are studied, as well as the variations in the component of the Earth’s axial rotation angular velocity caused by the Lunar-Solar tides, the values of which are estimated according to N.S. Sidorenkov’s theory. It is shown, that the necessary conditions for the influence of the Lunar-Solar tides on the variability of the atmospheric pressure field are satisfied, but only sporadically. The episodes, in which such relations are statistically significant, occur in different parts of the world with varying probability and at different times. Duration of such episodes depends on the parameters of the detection algorithm, and item geographic location. During the period of the modern climate warming, the size of the areas where the detected episodes occur with equal probability, have decreased. It is found, that during the episodes occurring in some areas of Greenland, as well as the Labrador Sea, the probability of occurrence of intrusions of the Arctic air in the Atlantic sector (60 W – 0) of the Northern Hemisphere is significantly greater, than in the intervals between them. This allowed assuming that association between changes in the characteristics of the Lunar-Solar tides and variations in the atmospheric pressure field is causal.

THE FIRST DATA ON THE GEOLOGY-ARCHEOLOGIC STUDY OF THE BLACK SEA TAMAN GULF PATREY SHELF

The first results on the detailed acoustic stratigraphy of the near-surface sediments of the Patrey shelf of the Black sea Taman Gulf have been obtained. Geographic coordinates of the location of the supposed objects of cultural heritage on the bottom have been determined for the first time. The geometry and time of the beginning of the construction of the discovered objects, as well as the burial of some of them in the sedimentary layer are specified.
